Nature lover Rabindranath Tagore has highlighted the attachment to the roots in the short story ‘Chhuti’, Every tree grows up in harmony with the nature. If a tree is uprooted from it’s natural environment and again replanted somewhere else then it requires special care, otherwise the tree will die. Fatik is uprooted from village and gets exposed to the urban life. Fatik is half dead, deprived of his mother’s care. Desperate to survive, he tries hard to cope-up with the unknown city life and wants to get back to his roots. Fatik longs for the motherly care and love and want to have a break from the urban life.
