Professor Sohini Devi, a dignified and sharp woman, is interrogated at the police station by Sub-Inspector Jagabandhu Das of the Homicide Department for the murder of businessman Sambit Banerjee. Das, a plain and awkward man obsessed with cashews, annoys her with his rambling talk. Forced to respond, Sohini firmly denies the murder, arguing logically for her innocence. Yet Das refuses to believe her, as the evidence he gathered contradicts her claims.
