“Sheet-Basanta” by Dakshinaranjan Mitra Majumdar tells the tale of two princely brothers, Sheet and Basanta. Due to the evil stepmother’s trick, their mother turns into a parrot, and the brothers are sent to be killed but are spared. Separated in the forest, Sheet becomes a king while Basanta grows up with a sage. Later, they reunite, free their mother, and justice is served — the wicked queen loses everything, proving good triumphs over evil.
